Where is Mel based and how far will she travel?

Mel is based in Sydney, New South Wales and will travel across all parts of Sydney as well as interstate and internationally to perform on the violin. Mel has performed on the violin across Australia, Europe & Asia. Get in touch to find out about Mel’s interstate and international violin packages.

What styles of music does Mel play?

Classical, contemporary, pop, EDM, deep house and cultural music including Greek, Cypriot, Arabic, Armenian, Afghan, African, French, Hindi, Italian, Jewish, Latin, Mauritian, Nepalese & Persian music.

Can Mel play violin covers from other cultures?

Absolutely! Mel is always happy to learn your favourite songs on the violin, no matter what culture or genre. Some songs work better than others on the violin, so please get in touch with our team to see if your song requests are suitable.

How long does Mel play for?

This depends on the type of function and what you’re after. Mel can play the violin for up to 45 minutes at a time.

How can I book Mel in?

Please submit an enquiry form with as much information as possible about your event, including the date, start time and location and our team will get back to you in the next few business days.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, a non-refundable deposit is charged to secure the booking date. 

What time does Mel arrive?

Usually around one hour before guests are due to arrive for sound check, preparation and set up.

What is the charge for a solo violinist in Sydney?

Prices can vary based on what you are after and the type of booking. It’s best to submit an online enquiry and our team will be in touch to provide a more accurate quote for your function.

I only need Mel to perform one song on the violin. How much is it to book violin for only 5 minutes?

The minimum booking time is one hour, which will allow for flexibility with your booking if things may be running behind schedule. It will also allow for music to continue after the 5 minutes for up to 45 minutes at a time. Please get in touch with our team directly to find out more about the various packages and what might be most suitable for your event.

What songs can Mel perform for my wedding?

Mel has an extensive set of repertoire that you can choose specific songs from. Get in touch with our team to get a copy of our current repertoire list, or take a look at Mel’s online albums for some inspiration. Alternatively, you can tell us the style of music that you are after and we can take the stress out of choosing and select the most suitable songs for you.

I’m stuck on songs for my wedding ceremony, can I please get some help?

We would love to help! You should first start by reading our Wedding Ceremonies Blog to help you find the perfect songs for your day. Some popular ceremony song choices for your wedding ceremony include classical music, hymns, Disney movie favourites or songs from artists such as Elvis, The Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Ed Sheeran & John Legend. Get in touch and we can give you some more ideas for specific points in your ceremony or we can personalise your favourite song with a violin cover.

Does Mel play with other musicians?

Yes, Mel loves collaborating her violin performances with other musicians including with saxophonists, pianists, guitarists, bouzouki players, singers, drummers, DJs and more.

Can Mel recommend a DJ and other musicians?

Yes, we would love to recommend DJs and other musicians to you based on what you’re after and what might be the best fit for your event. Please get in touch and we can pass our recommended vendors to you, or book them in directly for you.

Is Mel able to play in the rain?

Unfortunately, Mel’s classical and electric violins and audio equipment are not water resistant and will be damaged if they get wet. Please organise a wet weather option if you are planning on having your event outdoors.

Does Mel provide her own sound set up?

Mel provides her own portable speaker, amplifier and sound set up which is included in each booking. Her portable speaker is suitable for background style music, small events, wedding ceremonies or canapés/cocktail hour. Larger events may require additional sound/AV setup or a DJ which we would be happy to organise for you.

Does Mel need to be situated near a power point when performing?

Not at all. Mel’s violins and speakers are of the highest quality and are always portable, so she can be positioned wherever you would like for your event with no cords or connections needed.

Can you provide background music in between your sets?

Yes of course, background music will continue to play in between Mel’s sets. This can be organised either by Mel or by your DJ.

Do you provide a microphone for events?

No, unfortunately we cannot provide microphones for your event. However we can direct you to the right place or right people to hire a wireless or corded microphone if needed for your event.
